Description

Working primarily with the human form, Sue Adams’ work explores the beauty and agony of the human experience. With a classical flair and contemporary execution, her sculptures and drawings explore themes of passion, pain, frailty and grace. Provocative, intense and sublime, her works invite a meditation on mind, body and soul. “Ultimately I am only trying to understand or grasp this concept called life,” she states.

Sue Adams studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nice, France in 1973 and completed her BFA at the University of Windsor in 1976. Over the past 30 years, her work been exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions in Canada, including in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal, and in the United States and France. Her sculpture “Leda” was installed at the Welcome Centre at the University of Windsor in 2015. Her work is held in many private collections in Canada and the United States and she has been awarded grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council. Born in Windsor, Ontario she continues to work from her studio near Almonte, Ontario.
